Apple deja de apoyarse en la certificación EPEAT
Después de que años atrás se acusara a la compañía de la manzana mordida de comercializar unos productos (más en concreto los Macs) perjudiciales para el medioambiente, usando ésta como una de las medidas la certificación EPEAT Gold, han decidido dejar de pedirla. Decisión inesperada pero lógica sabiendo la filosofía que tienen en Cupertino con respecto a este tipo de asuntos.
Y es que hay algunos factores importantes que han propiciado esta decisión, como el compromiso evidente de la utilización de nuevos materiales o los nuevos métodos a la hora de la construcción de nuevos equipos, como pasa en el nuevo Macbook Pro de Retina Display. Esto no sería tan importante si no incumpliera un requisito indispensable de la certificación, que el producto sea fácil de desmontar, algo que no ocurre con este nuevo portátil por su complicada estructura y la necesidad de contar con herramientas exclusivas de la compañía.
Así, y sin aportar ningún tipo de comunicado oficial explicando el hecho, Apple ha decidido por fin dejar de hacer uso de este certificado. Desde EPEAT están decepcionados con la decisión, y habrá que esperar para ver si el gobierno estadounidense toma alguna medida, ya que el 95% de los dispositivos vendidos deben contar con esta certificación.
