FaceTime available on the Mac App Store for a fee

FaceTime

FaceTime is finally coming out of its beta phase, and Apple has decided to make it available once and for all on the Mac App Store. The changes compared to the beta version released a few months ago are minimal. They have simply been limited to fixing the bugs found and optimizing performance as much as possible.

There is one thing we don’t quite understand, and that is that Apple has listed the app in the store at a price of €0.79. We thought the app would be free, but in the end it isn’t, and Apple wants us to pay a small amount for it. Although thanks to this app we can make video calls to users of iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod Touch, many people would want to use it to call other Macs. In that case, we still have the option of doing so through iChat, and we can save those 79 euro cents.

It’s true that the amount to pay for the app is quite small, but everyone was taken by surprise that it ended up being paid. Regular users will gladly pay the amount, while occasional users will think twice about it, that’s for sure.
