iMovie for iPhone
We feel that Apple has done quite well at porting Mac OS X applications to the App Store, and at today’s conference it has done the same with iMovie, which will soon be available for the iPhone for $4.99 (provided Apple approves it for the App Store, Jobs joked on stage).
The application will let us create videos with effects, transitions, and templates, just like the Mac OS X application itself. Apple has tried to bring all the features of the desktop application to mobile, and it seems they have achieved this to a greater or lesser extent. The application will take advantage of the camera features of the iPhone 4, although it will also be possible to use it with earlier versions. Of course, it won’t be necessary to record videos directly within the application, as we can use any of those we have stored on the phone, as well as photos from the camera roll and the various albums.
Of course, it will be possible to export the videos created with the application in different qualities: 360p, 540p, and 720p. Now we’ll have to see how long the phone takes to export a video at maximum quality, which will put a strain on the battery and the convenience of use, although we won’t know this until it’s available and we can run the first real tests. What do you think? Will they end up porting all of iLife and iWork to the iPhone and iPad? That would be interesting…

gracias
